The Machine – Club Song

During the 1960’s the club song or theme song of Mackie was penned along with the nickname “The Machine”.

The nickname was actually extended from when John Little (Life Member) would bat.  When John was dismissed after scoring well he would come off the ground and say “gee, I batted like a machine today”. Then one day when Mackie put together a good score he stated that “WE batted like a machine today” and so the nickname “The Machine” stuck.

We’re the mighty Mackie machine, yes we are
We’re the mighty Mackie machine, yes we are
We make the runs, we bowl them out
We’ll show the others there is no doubt
We’ll be premiers, wait and see

The Mackie boys/girls will all come through, yes we will
The Mackie boys/girls will all come through, yes we will
The Mackie boys/girls will all come through
We’ll show the others we are true blue
We’ll be premiers, wait and see

The Mackie boys/girls will pass the test, yes we will
The Mackie boys/girls will pass the test, yes we will
The Mackie boys/girls will pass the test
We’ll show the others we are the best
We’ll be premiers, wait and see

The Mackie machine will win the flag, yes we will
The Mackie machine will win the flag, yes we will
The Mackie machine will win the flag
The Mackie machine will never sag
We’ll be premiers, wait and see

(Based on the song – Mademoiselle from Armentieres)
